…stays these couriers from the swift completion of their promised Halloween candy.

We don’t how we can face Janet our beloved Postal Carrier today.  We promised her our left over Halloween candy, but everyone got so many trick-or-treaters, candy reserves hit record lows.  The office is devoid of all things chocolate or sugary.  One person completely ran out and had to start giving away Southwest Airline peanut and pretzel packets.
